The original Helm fork impressed many riders with its stiff chassis, supportive feel, and a host of innovative features. It was a fork that liked it rough and performed best at high speeds under hard-charging riders.Â
The Mark II retains many of the great features of the original Helm, but Cane Creek has tweaked, tuned, and improved the damper and air spring to create a fork with the ideal balance of buttery smoothness and support.Â
The fork is available in both air and coil sprung versions. You are currently looking at the air-sprung fork.
Features:Â
- Lighter compression tune to improve sensitivityÂ
- New SKF low friction seals
- 2.5wt Motorex damper oil with 11% lower viscosityÂ
- New friction reducing air spring material
- Increased air volume for better traction and suppleness
- New threadless air seal head for easier travel change
Who this for? The Helm is best suited for Trail/All Mountain riding and Enduro racing.
Spring type: This fork uses a manually equalised air spring. This differs from most other forks in that you will need to equalise the positive and negative air springs by pressing a release valve at the base of the fork. This requires an extra step in the setup process but it does provide you with extra potential to tune the fork to your liking by varying the pressure between the two air springs.
Wheel size compatibility: Available in options to suit 29/27.5+ and 27.5″ wheels.
Weight:Â 2080g (29 Air)
Fork offset:Â
- 29/27.5+ is available in 51mm and 44mm offset options.
- 27.5″ is available in 44mm offset only.
Axle to crown height:Â Measured at 160mm (varies according to set length of travel)
- 29/27.5+: 573mm
- 27.5″: 553mm
Max tyre width:
- 29/27.5+: 2.5″
- 27.5″: 3.0″
Suspension travel amount:
- 29/27.5+: Internally adjustable between 130mm and 160mmÂ
- 27.5″: Internally adjustable between 130mm and 170mmÂ
Compression damper style technologies / adjustments: The MKII features a new compression and mid-valve circuit for increased support and control. A new SKF oil seal head and lighter weight damper oil reduce friction and provide a more supple ride-feel.
- High-speed compression (10 clicks)
- Low-speed compression (17 clicks)
Rebound damper technologies / adjustments:Â
- Low-speed rebound (10 clicks)
Travel adjustability: Travel is internally adjustable in 10mm increments by adding or removing travel spacers. 2 Travel spacers included
Volume adjustability: Air volume can be changed internally without the need for spacers via an indexed 8 position air volume adjustment system.
Stanchion diameter: 35mm
Axle size and style: The fork uses Cane Creek’s “D-Loc” axle system. 15mm Bolt-on thru-axle. 15mm x 110 BOOST spacing
