The Women’s Shimano SH-GR701 provides everything you need from a high level, flat pedal shoe. Excellent grip from the Michelin rubber outsole, extra impact protection from its robust toe cap and padded ankle collar, and importantly, comfortable walking. Â
Who’s It For: This Women specific shoe is designed for hard hitting days on the pedals and is perfect for Aggressive Trail, Enduro or DH riding.
Pedal Interface: Flat pedals only.
Closure: Nothing too fancy here, they feature a traditional lace up style closure.
Upper Materials: The upper is made from a combination of mesh and durable TPU. This stops the shoe from absorbing a lot of water and allows it to dry quickly (no more stinky bags). They also feature an asymmetrically raised padded ankle collar and sidewall sole for added protection.Â
Sole Materials: The sole is made with a high-grip Michelin rubber bottom, with EVA and a shank plate for extra protection.
Sole Type: The sole is divided into three parts. It features an extremely grippy middle section for your pedals, and added tread for walking on the heel and toe sections.
Weight: 358gm for a size 40.
Last/Width type: Features Shimano’s Volume Tour Women’s last. This has extra volume at the ball of the foot for added comfort and support on and off the bike.Â
Pros: They are grippy, offer a lot of protection against impacts and come in Women specific sizing and last.
Cons: Probably too bulky for XC or light trail type riding.
